Homegrown

Heirloom tomatoes in writer’s garden in 2015

Self-grown tomatoes always taste saltier and fuller than those you can buy. Even if you buy them organic and from someone who has a better understanding of farming than you do.

I wonder why that is.. Right timing, the soil around you, the short travel distance of the fruit to your plate? Add even the satisfaction of having grown it. That is psychological and not necessarily about your taste buds. Then, eat a tomato from a friend’s garden, and it is the same! Home grown tastes better than bought.

Every time!
