I have watched a number of essential workers holding back and fighting with their tears when I told them “Thank you for everything you are doing for us in this time.”
I notice more women work in essential jobs than men. About 60% or so. Whatever the gender, it is a small thing to tell the people who are showing up for work and serving everyone’s health that they are appreciated.
While they are absorbing the stress and the negative attitudes of many customers and perhaps worrying about their health, it may be the one good thing they hear all week.
