The first impression of a place, a setting or a person is quite far from what it turns out to be. That is why you can only speak with authority about a topic that has saturated your mind.
First impressions are helpful though when they touch your curiosity, inspire, or provide you with a good gut feeling. If you ask yourself, ‘Why haven’t I done that before? Why haven’t I come up with that? How could I live all this time without knowing that?’, you are going to learn a lot and enjoy the learning.
Respect your gut feeling, if it is not positive — your perceptions of your subject may change, but your gut is telling you the truth that the learning will be incomplete, hard, not overly satisfying, or compatible with your journey.
